The rules of hanging out the curtains have been discussed millions of times on different blogs and websites so I'll spare you the lesson ( you can read about it here, here and here) and just share my recent favorite beautifully styled windows that will definitely inspire you! I really love the gold curtain poles trend, especially against a dark wall, how fab?

I know that after very festive December, most of us don’t even feel like drinking anymore but maybe it’s a good time to stock and style your bar cart for 2015 parties later in the year!
I love stylish cocktail trollies, it’s more sophisticated than having beer in the fridge and wine on the counter and let you have all the pretty accessories and cocktail ingredients all in one and always be ready when your friends turn up.
I have chosen those 2 different bar carts to help you get the style; I think they are both fabulous, one silver, one gold and I can’t decide which one I like more! Which one do you prefer?

It is impossible not to love this one of the most talented American interior designers - Daniel Romualdez.
His signature mid-century mixed with classic and contemporary style definitely stands out of the crowd.
I love his eclectic and full of life spaces, featuring bold colors, brass, natural wood and clean, simple lines.
Perfect balance of simplicity and personality in the design.
Who: Daniel Romualdez, American interior designer and architect
Where: New York

It is a pure pleasur to look at the place designed with such an eye for timeless elegance and perfect balance of colors and fabrics. I love this place, filled with luxurious furniture and faded colors.

I don't usually make any New Year's Eve resolutions, but I always try to look at the upcoming year as a new challenge and occasion to achieve more and grow, as a person and career wise as well.
I managed to do everything I wanted in 2013 and it looks like a good luck is on my side for now.
I planned to move to London and start my interior design course which I did, both, one after another in April and September.
I looked for a job that will let me grow and learn and be rewarding and fulfilling in the same time and after a straggle, interviews and working as a sales assistant for a brief while I finally did.

I moved to London with nothing with a dream to work in the interior design field and it starts to work out for me. I guess when you are really passionate about something, believe in yourself and don't take a "no" for an answer, the universe works its way to help you. I don't say I am there yet completely but I am happy to have a chance to prove myself and work my way up.

This year resolutions are more plans as well than wishes or promises and I am going to do everything I can to achieve them. I am not worrying, I feel this year is going to be amazing:

1. Expand and grow this blog.
Starting out in the blogs world is a hard work and I feel like, even that I try to post as much as I can, I still don't do it often enough and the posts are not always perfect and it frustrates me a lot. So this year I will try to post at least 5 days a week and in addition to inspirational posts include more of my original projects. (Which is connected to the resolution number 2). Also, I think it is time to invest in a serious, professional blog layout so there are changes to come that I am really excited about.

2. Grow the portfolio.
I am currently working on some projects, including my sister's bedroom and my own and hopefully this year there will be more to come. I promise to document, photograph and share everything in here and any of your feedback and thoughts will be much appreciated!

3. Learn as much as possible.
Every field is demanding and requires relentless getting new skills and knowledge and it is definitely a case of interior design. So this year is all about getting them, reading, explore, watching, seeing, admiring and experiencing, taking drawing, Autocad and fabric printing classes and make the best of how amazing London is in terms of interior design.

I tell the kids this all of the time...I'd rather spend money on adventures then materialistic items that will mean nothing to us in a few years. Memories...those are what I live for. Making them and reflecting on them.
4. Travel.
I find travelling very resourcing and inspiring, not of course to mention the relaxing part. I want to visit at least on of the European capitals that I didn't see yet this year and finally go to NYC.

5. Live life to the fullest.
And by that I understand enjoying every single moment of it, not to worry too much, spend more time with the people I care about and show them more love.
Spending more time out, not to put anything for tomorrow and don't be afraid to be myself. Speak up when I don't like something and try to express my feelings better. I won't hesitate too much and follow my heart. And remember that what I think and feel matter as much as what other think and feel.
I will try to be always honest with others and myself and take decisions that are the best for me. Oh and yes, don't worry at all what other people think about my decisions and choices, just do what makes me happy and what I believe in. Be the person I would like to have for a best friend. Love more, worry less, laugh more and show more kindness to people. Let myself go. Be silly. Appreciate what people do for me and recognize true friends. Stay away from the fake ones. I'll surround myself with positiveness and always hope for the best.

What are your 2014 resolutions? I wish you to have the best year of your lives! With love, Monika

Having a look back at the blog I realized that there are not many articles/features/inspirations for the male part of the readers. There are few reasons for that, including myself being quiet girly and having most of the visitors being girls! So I thought more of a masculine touch is needed and picked some inspirations for the ultimate bachelor pad decor. Not liking to generalize at all, I have to admit that those interiors feel very masculine with simple, natural materials, monochromatic color scheme, leather accents and industrial/loft feeling to it.

So gentlemen there are few tips on how to create a similar interior:

1. Keep it simple. Huge loft or a rental bedroom, chose your furniture carefully and go for quality, not quantity. The space shouldn't be packed with things, but feel airy and spacious.

2. Go for raw. Wooden floor and white concrete or brick walls will add this industrial touch to the space and make the rest of the decor pop. You can add black and white posters and quirky art and display them on the wall.

3. Invest in leather. Brown or black good quality sofa or armchair look sophisticated and styled with vintage accessories will make you feel like Indiana Jones.

4. Search flea markets and vintage shops for accent furniture, accessories and books. You may find real treasures and make your space unique. Try Alfie's Market  (also featured here) or some of Shoreditch antique shops if you are in London.

5. Let the light in. Make the most of your windows and don't hide them behind the curtains. Choose the blinds if necessary to hide from the neighbors' eyes.

6. Use natural, primary materials for accessories and soft furbishing to create a masculin, "raw" look. Untreated wood, glass, metal, fur, leather, linen, wool, hand made ceramics are what you should look for. Keep the color palette simple and quiet monochromatic. Whites, black, browns, dark blues, oranges and grays will be the perfect choice.

Remember Schmidt, Winston and Nick from New Girl? They are living in an awesome loft in LA so watch for some inspiration and obviously for a good laugh!

I finally managed to go and see the Great Gatsby yesterday. My sister saw it about a week ago and went on and on about how great the movie was and couldn't stop listening to the soundtrack. And I know why now. Going to cinema I was kind of scared that it will disappoint me. I couldn't be more wrong. This movie is a masterpiece. Starting with great actors (Leonardo DiCaprio is obviously always great and Carey Mulligan did a great job playing Daisy). The story is based in the 20s in New York and everything is shown in such a wonderful, beautiful way you fell in love instantly. Music has so much to do with that, it's amazing how they managed to make hip-hop matches the 20s spirit. Baz Luhrmann is a genius. With the great story, great music, great actors and great costumes, comes great scenography. We can thank the director's wife, the designer Catherine Martin for taking us back in time. I mean like: Oh my god I wanna live in the 20s kind of way. The interiors in the movie are incredible, full of gold and splendor, art-deco details and patterns, marble, polished wood and crystal chandeliers.
I am so in love with everything.

That is what I call a party.

I love this couch!
